Electrolux Floor Care has committed to becoming the leader of our industry when it comes to Sustainability issues. Of course our products are the centre of attention. We continuously work to reduce our environmental impact, in our own operations as well as at suppliers of products, parts and services. Energy, waste, water and chemicals are our focus, and we are in a constant process of setting ambitious improvement targets for all these parameters.
Constant improvement
We will continue to decrease the environmental impact of our products, and launch products with superior environmental performance. We will build knowledge and expand our ambitions to a larger share of our product range. Through our long experience in vacuum cleaner technology, we have a lot of knowledge with which to support the development work. In parallel, we are of course working on our own to improve our own products’ energy efficiency – both in current product ranges and as part of the development of future products.
Proper handling is everything
Plastic is a superior material for designing household products, due to its possibilities to shape and color, thereby achieving a combination of function and aesthetics. Plastics also fulfil our high demands for human safety, product durability as well as resistance to heat, external substances and age. At the same time – the molecular bonds that make plastic so durable also make it equally resistant to natural degradation processes. Additionally the manufacturing of plastics often creates large quantities of chemical pollutants. It’s simply not the material in itself that is bad, it is how the material is used that creates the environmental problems.
Total recycling – our vision
We look for recycling opportunities in all regions where we operate, and try to influence the debate to make recycling possible, but of course we are dependant on local infrastructure for this to happen. We cannot put a date for when global recycling will be achieved, but it is our vision and our common goal. In the meantime we are actively working together with our suppliers to stress the needed development in using recycled materials.
