The Kids are Alright

Bubbling pots, finger-crunching machines, sharp knives - on the face of it the kitchen isn't the safest place in the home for children. However, with a dash of forward thinking, the right Electrolux appliances and a little bit of education, we can all do our bit to keep the little ones safe and sound.

The Heat is On

Keeping things out of reach is obviously a good place to start so try to have your ovens at eye level, which also makes things easier for you when you're cooking. Many Electrolux ovens and cookers have child locks and double or triple glazed oven doors will keep things cool. Cooktops can also be fitted with a flame failure device, which cuts the gas supply if the flame blows out. And for a super safe cooking surface try the Electrolux Induction Cooktop. Induction Cooktops only heat the pans, leaving the cooking surface cool and much safer.

Out of Harm's Way

Dishwashers can also be fitted with child safety locks. And when you're loading, make sure all the sharp objects like knives are facing down in the cutlery basket. Also try to load your fridges safely, paying particular attention to heavy items like bottles, which if not secured properly can roll and fall out. Many Electrolux fridges also have shelves made from safety glass, which again reduces the chance of cuts and bruises.

Education, Education, Education

Of course, the best way to keep our kitchens safe for children is to educate them to the dangers. Try preparing some simple meals or baking some cakes and let your children help. As you go through the process you can teach them which things are dangerous, and what things they should be particularly careful of.
